Explore the exciting and rewarding field of massage therapy in this foundational course designed to introduce students to the profession and its role within today’s healthcare system. Students will gain an understanding of the history of massage therapy, licensure requirements, educational pathways, employment opportunities, professional organizations, and the many benefits of therapeutic massage. The course also examines ethical and professional responsibilities essential to successful practice.
In addition to classroom instruction, students will learn and practice basic hand and foot massage techniques. To enhance their understanding of the client experience and therapeutic benefits of massage, students are required to receive one full-body massage from a licensed massage therapist during the semester.
