Job description

Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner is accepting applications for a coordinator of facilities and operations for our higher education & workforce development center in Westerly.

The coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the Westerly Education Center building and the Annex building, including management and operations of both campuses; and overall responsibility for health, safety, security, and environmental issues, including accident procedures, planning and preparedness. Also responsible for the oversight of scheduled programs as well as continued growth of the programs.

Specific duties

  • Coordinate all campus facilities and services, including the maintenance and upkeep of the interior and exterior, equipment and supplies procurement, storage, and assignment.
  • Develop specifications and assist in vendor selection for maintenance and other related work including contract implementation.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance schedules and prioritize repair and maintenance work to minimize disruption of operations.
  • Coordinate all programs and services within the center with the direction of the director.
  • Coordinate and direct all scheduling of classes, events and related activities including scheduling support staff.
  • Serve as liaison with higher education institutions, industry partners, and other entities utilizing space at the center.
  • Establish policies and guidelines for efficient and sound management of the center with direction and oversight from the director.
  • Stimulate the development of innovative programs at the center.
  • Coordinate with participating institutions in identifying the curriculum to be offered, facilities required, and student services needed for various educational activities within the facility.
  • Maintain a master schedule of the facility classroom and labs to best optimize facility utilization.
  • Track facility utilization usage and submit reports.
  • Familiarity with the operation of building technology and how to effectively troubleshoot audio/visual and instructional tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in operations, management, communications, business management or related field. Minimum of three years of administrative and/or facilities management experience required. Work experience in higher education & workforce development preferred. Valid driver’s license required.

Special skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the academic and industry workforce training offerings nationally, at the state’s public colleges and universities, and the Department of Labor and Training.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills.

This is a full-time, non-union, non-classified position with a pay grade of 10. The coordinator reports to the director of Westerly Education Center. Send cover letter and resume by April 16 for consideration.
